#55 Run

Have a pair of good running shoes ready at all time.  When you're going through your day and you hit these moments of temporary boredom or in between tasks or getting upset about something or simply been a couch potato for a few hours at work or at home, just do it.  Even if you are busy, make time.  It can be a minute.  It can be ten, twenty or even sixty minutes.  Mornings are best.  Boost up

Don't think twice, put on the shoes and run outside.  If it's icy or snowy outside, then run inside the house.  If it's rainy outside, just go run in the rain for several minutes then come back to dry up and sit with a nice hot cocoa or tea. Every person should do this at least once a day.

We'd like to think that our ancestors didn't just sit down and be lazy all day and eat or sleep.  There would be times when they had to move fast, catch their meals or simply ran away from danger and since the living condition was quite primitive in many aspects, they probably did this impromptu sympathetic fight or flight response quite frequently.  That's also how they stayed in shape.

As you travel the world, you'll see how old people in developed western countries like America are decrepit and even disabled in general, while the old people in many third world countries, especially the Asian countries, though still appeared aged yet they are still very active, independent, and function like their younger counterparts.  Your great grandma from dad's side passed away in her 80s and up until the time she passed away she was still farming with her bare hands, washed clothes with her own hands (no dryer or washer in that part of the world at that time), walked miles every day, and still bossed everyone around like nobody's business.

You've gotta run.  It keeps you in shape, maintains muscle mass and prevents bone loss, boosts your endophins which makes you happier and takes away stress, ...it's fun!
