The geeky summary is that sugar (especially excessive sugar during Halloween or holidays) causes increase in insulin production, which kicks up cortisol hormone production for prolonged period of time, which lowers your immune / defense system, suppresses your thyroid, leaches calcium off of your bones, and many more bad stuff. The two weeks starting on Halloween day or Christmas day, are always filled with sickly kids and adults, be it stuffy nose, mono, ear infections, stomachache, sinusitis, etc.
So if you are ready to get sick after eating these sweets, go ahead. We are sure you'll make the best decision for yourself and for others who had to take care of you :)
